Akershus festning

Akershus festning is a medieval castle, erected in around the year 1300 in the reign of Haakon V. It has played an important role in the defence of Eastern Norway. The buildings within its fortifications have been used for many different purposes, such as royal residence, prison, college, museum and government offices.
