Garmanngården was built some 400 years ago. This was what a mansion in Kvadraturen looked like at the time. This was where rich families lived.

This house was build somewhere between 1624 and 1647 and it is a typical residence of a rich family in Kvadraturen at that time. It was important to show everyone that you were well off, and could afford a big house.

Rådhusgata with number 7 and an active street life in 1838.

Inside the wealthy families had decorated their houses beautifully. They had several living rooms, bedrooms, and maybe even separate rooms for the children. All the furniture was expensive. Walls and roofs had lavish paintings. The servants lived in a building in the back. They had no luxury, and did not fraternize with the family they served
